The Lares trek is an excellent alternative to the Inca Trail, the route offers visits to authentic Andean communities where we see the beautiful art of weaving with alpaca wool. During our hike we are surrounded by stunning mountains, lakes and valley landscapes. The trek starts at a small village in the Sacred Valley and ends at the magical and mystical Machu Picchu!

Day to day presentation:

Day 1: Cusco – Lares – Wacawasi.
Pick up from your hotel in tourist transport to go to the Sacred Valley. We travel to the hot spring of Lares, where we will enjoy the springs and have lunch. Then we will continue to walk to our campsite in Wacawasi. (L,D)
Day 2: Wacawasi – Patacancha.
After breakfast, we go to the first activity of the day: observation of Alpacas fabric weaving. Then we will start our climb to Abra de Ipsaycocha (4400 m.a.s.l.) with beautiful views of Vilcanota mountain range, observation of flora, fauna and communities. Here we have lunch. Then we will descend to Patacancha where we set up our camp and have dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Patacancha- Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.
After breakfast, we start walking downhill via Patacancha to Willoc and Pumamarca. Here we will observe traditional textile and enjoy the Inca Terraces. Afterwards we depart to Ollantaytambo, with a stop for lunch. Then we will board the Train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival you are shown to your hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Machu Picchu – Cusco.
We are up early to take the bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The lost city of the Incas was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham and is beautifully located in the cloud forest. We take a two hour guided tour in the citadel and learn about the interesting past of Machu Picchu. After the tour you might have the opportunity to look around some more on your own. Please talk to your guide.
Tip! If you are looking for an adventure you can hike the mountain of Huayana Picchu. This tour is not included and have to be pre ordered. Please contact us for more information.
When we get back to Aguas Calientes you have time to get lunch on your own and if you wish you can visit the hot springs. (not included) Then it is time to take the train back to Cusco. (Please observed some trains stop at Ollantaytambo and you will be transported by bus back to Cusco.) (B)
