This tour combines three of Brazils pearls. We start in the pulsating city of Rio de Janerio, with it’s famous statue of Christ the redeemer and beautiful Copacabana beach. We then move to the old harbor town of Paraty, which is listed as an UNESCO world heritage site. Our tour ends at the beautiful island of Ilha Grande where you can enjoy sun and bath while becoming one with nature in this paradise.
Tip! If you wish you can prolong the tour with a few extra days at Ilha Grande or take a trip to visit the famous Iguazu falls. There is also a possibility to upgrade your stay to comfort class.

Day to day presentation:
Day 1: Arrival to Rio.
At the arrival to Rio de Janerio you are met by a representative and are transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend on your own.
Day 2: Rio.
Today we take a city tour in Rio and visit some of the city’s most famous sights. We start at the 710 meters high Corcovado mountain and the most famous monument in Rio – the 38 meters high statue of Christ the redeemer. We take the environmentally friendly electrical mountain cable car up to the top of the mountain and enjoy the view.
We then continue via the city center to the famous “Sugarloaf mountain”. From here we may see a wonderful sunset.
Day 3: Rio.
The day is free to spend on your own. Take the opportunity to enjoy the famous Copacabana beach.
Day 4: Rio – Paraty.
In the morning we get transfer from Rio to Paraty, which takes about 5 hours. After check in we take a city tour on foot in this little town. Paraty is on the UNESCO world heritage list and you can find plenty of history in the town! Our guide brings us back to the time when the Portuguese “discovered” Brazil. We then travel through history passing the ages of sugar, gold and coffee. We look at colonial houses and learn about the dark history involving the slave trade.
We walk the famous Gold trail which brings us to the waterfalls in the rain forest where we can take a refreshing swim. We then continue to the famous Rum cachaca distillery before taking the bus back to town.
Day 5: Paraty.
The day is free to spend on your own.
Day 6: Paraty – Ilha Grande.
Today we are transferred to the island of Ilha Grande. We travel by car and boat for about two to three hours. At the arrival to the island we are shown to our hotel. Pousada Naturalia is beautifully embedded in a garden located only 60 meters from the beach. The rooms have sea view and an own balcony with a hammock. A five-minute walk along the beach takes you to the pier and the Abraao center where you can find restaurants and bars. The hotel offers wifi and 24-hour service.
Day 7-8: Ilha Grande.
The days are free to spend on your own. Relax at the beach, explore the wonderful nature and meet the locals. Try the excellent local cuisine which is based on fish and shellfish. You can also book an optional tour like: A full day tour to Lago Azul and it’s beaches or a half day tour to Lopez Mendez beach.
Day 9: Ilha Grande – Rio – Departure.
We get transfer back to Rio and the airport for your flight home or to your onward journey.

Fact about Paraty.
The town of Paraty is located at the coast and was founded in 1667 during the sugar rush. The town was very significant during the gold rush due to the fact that it had a harbor important for exporting gold. Due to it’s many colonial buildings UNESCO has declared the town a world heritage site. Today the town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country and in the surrounding area are many sights well worth a visit.
The town itself is located in between the mountain and ocean in an area known as the Green Coast. In this area are about 60 beaches and some can only be reached by boat! In the town are many nature areas and parks and close by one can find Saco de mamangua- famous due to the fact that it’s the only tropical fjord in Brazil!
In the town center no cars are allowed so you can easily take a stroll in the alleyways and admire the beautiful colonial houses. You can also visit some of the towns many museums or galleries. Here you will also find many restaurants that serve shellfish and delicacies from the ocean. This is a heritage from the ”Caicara culture,” who’s people lived in the area before the Portuguese took over the land. Today many festivals are being celebrated in the town.
Fact about Ilha Grande
Ilha Grande is called the ”Big Island” and is located west of Rio de Janerio. Ilha Grande belongs to an archipelago which has 187 islands. The island has no car roads so it has been able to keep it’s natural beauty. It is famous for it’s beautiful landscape with tropical beaches, green lush forests and beautiful mountains. Here you find one of the most prestigious Atlantic forests in all of Brazil. The forest as one of the riches ecosystems in the world. In this park you will find many different spices such as the endangered Howler monkey.
On the island you will find waterfalls, hiking routes, lagoons and the Lopes Mendes beach, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Brazil. You can take a boat ride around the island or to attractions in the area. On the island you will find restaurants and bars serving traditional food with many fish and shellfish. On some bars you can listen to the local Forro music.
In the ocean around the island you will find a rich marine life and this place is considered one of the best to go diving.
